The Overkill 2023 – Theme: The Outburst of the Digital Swamp
Welcome to the Meta-swamp
Rather than draining the (digital)wetlands, The Overkill wishes to design a route through its intoxicating everglades. Artists navigating through the post-digital now think of the swamp as a scape of hybridization, material transformation, monstrous mutation – a new space for agency. The swamp is the site inhabited by amphibious entities, exiled variations of the self, a liquefying space expanding on to different layers. The festival invites these hybrid and mixed media artists accustomed to the porous and dripping networks. Borrowing from memetic cultures, cyber fashion, slime aesthetics, deflated ethno-futurisms, 3D morphologies, and syncretic fairy tales, these networks are to be navigated in adventurous ways, taking on a role and playing on new connections.
