PLAY FOR REAL

Games are getting real. Games are often considered – and can well be – lighthearted entertainment happily detached from our everyday life. But as games grow as a medium for all and with more diverse developers behind them, games also starts to reflect a wider variety of emotions and start serving new purposes. We see games dealing with the emotional complex of bullying or growing up with alcoholism. We see self-reflecting games made by developers who have to deal with a child with cancer or with personal depression. We see games that not only try to teach us about refugees or other people in need, but also use games to put the player in their shoes and see the dilemmas from new angles. Games that not only engage the player but also engage in the world around them.
