SUMMARY:COLLIDERS - Ephemeral
DESCRIPTION:COLLIDERS is an our monthly meet-up for playful makers\, welcoming any creative\, regardless of the engine they are working in. Vincent Schoutsen and Wouter van Veldhoven (Utrecht) joined forces with Leon Denise and Emilie Breslavetz from in.controlab (Paris) to develop and build an alternative arcade machine/robot. Reflecting on the theme; “Alternative Control and Resistance“\, they will be in residence in Enschede from March\, 10th to 16th. Come to discover their work! \nSign up here to let us know if you are coming\, if you would like to present your work\, or if you want to receive Colliders newsletter. This way\, we can adequately prepare the space and save you a spot. \nDATE: Thursday\, March 13th\nLOCATION: GrensFrequentie\, Muziekkwartier 3rd floor\, Willem Wilminkplein 1\, 7511 PG Enschede\nTIME: 18:30 to 22:00\nFree entrance!

SUMMARY:Talk & Play (Berlin - April)
DESCRIPTION:Talk & Play is a free event organised since 2013 by BerlinGameScene.com\, taking place every two months\, that provides the opportunity to game enthusiasts\, players and makers to meet and exchange knowledge in a friendly\, relaxed and safe environment. \nEverybody’s welcome\, regardless of their background and knowledge level: if you like games\, we’ll make sure you have a good time! Important: this is NOT an event only aimed at developers! \nThe event is structured in two parts: \n– TALK: Short game-related presentations + announcements from the community \n– PLAY: All participants are welcome to bring games they’ve made or are still working on – a perfect opportunity to discover and play new games\, collect feedback and\, who knows?\, maybe find collaborators for future projects \nOur Safe Space Policy encourages the behaviour at Talk & Play. We request that everyone who is affiliated with and participates to the event honours it. \n* Note about the June 2025 edition: this year we’re going to celebrate 50 editions of Talk & Play so we might do something special to celebrate\, possibly a bigger event at a different venue. Because of this\, the date of the June edition might change.

SUMMARY:Now Play This 2025
DESCRIPTION:Now Play This is a festival of experimental game design and playful art running at Somerset House in London\, showcasing interactive and playful work as part of the London Games Festival. \nThis year\, Now Play This presents Folk Games: The Stories We Play Together — we’ll be exploring how communities get together to create\, reinterpret\, and adapt the rules of play. Join us for a hands-on programme featuring inspiring talks\, workshops\, and playful sessions. \n  \n\nNow Play This started in 2015 as an experiment for us and for Somerset House. A way to show that games had already moved past the “but is it art” conversation and was forming complex interrogations into all sorts of spaces. Over the years we’ve grown from a couple of rooms and a couple of days\, to an expansive nine day festival of games\, workshops\, talks\, walks and a conference! Co-founded by Holly Gramazio and V Buckenham with support from Sophie Sampson and Jo Summers\, the team has grown and changed over the years.

SUMMARY:The Overkill 2025
DESCRIPTION:The Overkill is a playful art\, games and film festival focused on the impact of digital culture on our society. The festival showcases a selection of interactive and participative art installations\, indie/arthouse games\, presents an alternative film program\, experimental live performances and activities such as workshops\, network meet-ups\, talks\, hybrid symposium \nTheme 2025: Return to Dreamland\, From #CalmTok to Rest as Resistance \nIn 2025 following the progress of our reflection on play and activism\, in the context of a hyper productive society\, long conflicts\, climate catastrophes\, engulfing A.I\, we want to take the risk\, the counter intuitive move\, the challenge to stay in bed\, under the blanket\, heads in the pillow. If new technologies infiltrate our beds to transform it into data to be mined\, XR technologies\, video games and virtual environments are also relevant media when delving into dreamworlds. This new edition wants to be another chapter of resistance where we self-organise to wander\, dream\, let our subconscious meet\, invite our nightmares in… \nThe year program of Sickhouse and its main guest artists will be the leading process to develop the research and the selection for the festival.
