Incubate Arcade is open for submissions! We are looking for a few more alternative controller games around intimacy. The selected games wil be playable at the Incubate Arcade exhibition in De NWE Vorst in Tilburg, the Netherlands from 8 to 11 September 2016.

In 2014 we ran the first ever Incubate Arcade with about a dozen independent games with audio and music at the core of the play experience.

In September 2016 we are organizing another Incubate Arcade that runs alongside the Incubate festival in Tilburg. This time we are focusing on games that are showcasing a diversity in voices, perspectives and interfaces.

In the past years we have seen a rise of alternative ways to interact with the screen and experimental approaches to experience a game while playing together. This alternative controller movement is picking up steam in the independent game development community and we love to introduce the Incubate audience to this side of games. For Incubate Arcade we are curious how these new developments in games can explore physical body interfaces and corporeality, intimacy and empathy.

In addition to our curated selection of games we looking for a few more surprises to add to the exhibition within the theme of alternative controller interfaces, specifically surrounding intimacy.

Do you have an alternative controller game or interactive installation that explores intimacy? Submit it to Incubate Arcade!

The submissions will be reviewed by Incubate Arcade curators Martijn Verhallen of reverselandfill and Zuraida Buter of zo-ii.

Incubate & Incubate Arcade

Incubate is the annual celebration of cutting-edge culture in Tilburg, the Netherlands. It is a festival exhibiting a diverse view on indie culture as a whole, including music, visual arts, film and contemporary theater and games.

Incubate Arcade runs alongside the main festival to showcase artistic, independent and experimental games. This year we discover the world of alternative controller games and we showcase projects by female game developers. The event features an exhibition, panels, talks, and workshops.
Incubate Arcade is supported by The Art of Impact.
