This weekend the first Games [4Diversity] Jam EU will take place in Amsterdam. I’m honored organizer Menno Deen invited me as keynote speaker to inspire the participants. The talk is titled “An Ideology on Game Jams” and I will talk about what game jams mean to me.
Menno Deen has been organizing several Games [4…] jams in the past, starting off with games 4 health jams and slowly widening to jams covering other topics and angles. The inaugural Games [4Diversity] Jam will run in Amsterdam before GDC and the second one will run in San Francisco right after GDC.
The Games [4Diversity] Jam explores ways to incorporate feminine and LGBT aspects to games in a constructive way: creating games. Hereby the 24-hour development session will show that female, gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender issues can enrich games in an innovative and positive manner. So let’s jam! And diversify the game industry content now!
I’m passionate about many things, but two of them are definitely game jams and diversity in the game industry. So I can’t wait to see what the jammers will come up with this weekend when both of these things are combined.
