It’s a great week for games and play in the Netherlands next week!
In the week of 19-25 November, quite a few events related to the field of games and digital arts will take place in the Netherlands:
Game in the City 2012
Thursday to Friday, Amersfoort will see an influx of people from the game industry at the Rijtuigenloods near the train station. Always a wonderful location, it will host Game in the City, an industry event for Dutch game developers and interested people.
Among the speakers on Thursday: indie studios Stolen Couch Games & Game Oven; Epke Zonderland (Dutch turner); and HKU Game Design & Interaction lecturers about disruptive impact of games.
On Friday: Sean Murray from indie studio Hello Games about following his dream to start up his own studio, Menno Deen will give a workshop game design and the day will end with a panel discussion with Rami Ismail (Vlambeer), Sean Murray (Hello Games) and Derk de Geus (Paladin).
Thursday night will also see the happening of the year for the Dutch game industry: the Dutch Game Awards organized by Control Magazine. Nominees here.
During both days Dutch Game Garden is present with Indigo on the Road, showing games by Dutch game developers.
As icing on the cake: Monobanda will show their interactive audio experience for the first time. They recently released the teaser for Remembering and the game will be playable at Game in the City!
Playgrounds Festival
20-23 November 2012: Playgrounds International Digital Arts Festival “is a festival for innovative and creative digital art”. Taking place in Tilburg it “offers an inspiring mix of inventive films, documentaries, animation, graphic design, artist talks, character design and performances”. Lots of inspiration to be found right there!
The event also hosts a location in Amsterdam called Playgrounds vs Submarine Channel. Program brochure.
VERSUS
24 November: The new collaboration between Gekkenhuis, Eindbaas and Local Multiplayer Picnic takes place for the first time at WORM, a fantastic venue in Rotterdam. VERSUS promises an exciting mix of music, local multiplayer games, live acts and visuals. Line-up includes Samurai Gunn, Panoramical, Men of Mega, and Martin Hooke.
